Linda Bennett, O.D.
Dr. Linda Bennett is a graduate of the New England College of Optometry. Before practicing in Belmont, she worked in a private practice in Charlestown, at the Harvard Community Health Center, and at the Cambridge City Hospital. In addition to practicing optometry, she served as president of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists in 2000. She was appointed to Massachusetts Board of Registration of Optometry in 2003, and served until the beginning of 2010.
In 2005, Dr. Bennett joined other VOSH (Volunteer Optometrists in Service to Humanity) members in a trip to Armenia. There, they examined approximately 1,500 needy patients. Many of the individuals served simply needed spectacles to improve their vision, while others required additional health care. Glasses were provided to those in need, free of charge. In September 2007, Dr. Bennett led a second VOSH trip to Armenia. This group had five clinics and saw over 900 patients, during the course of ten days.
Dr. Bennett lives in Belmont with her husband, Raymond Huey. She has raised two daughters who attended the Belmont public schools. Her eldest daughter, Rebecca, joined the practice in 2008. Prior to becoming an optometrist, Dr. Bennett taught elementary school in Holbrook for seven years.
Dr. Bennett is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists (MSO).
